Product ReviewsA Waste of Money!, 2010-07-18 By Fred Schultz () We have 5 Zhu Zhu Pets and this Skate Board only fits 2 which are “male” Zhu Zhu Pets (Mr. Squiggly and Capatain Rivet) the front peg does not lock on the other 3 female and they fall off and/or do not move despite new battery strength, you have to invert (S-shape) the direction of the 2 U-Turn section otherwise it dead ends into the side of the starter tunnel section we initially purchased, maybe you don’t have to do this with other kits that have more than 1 open port but there is no disclosure on the box to this inherent flaw other than to say,”Connects to all Zhu Zhu Hamster track systems”. If the batteries in your Zhu Zhu pets are not brand new than the movement on the skateboard is painfully slow, another inherent flaw with Zhu Zhu Pets is that they all eat up batteries faster than any toy my children ever had or any device that we have. My children were only amused with the hamsters on the skateboard for seconds due to their slowness and they could not possibly fit the skate board on the pets by themselves. The U-turn and joints are flimsy with the kit and add on set, it falls apart with little movement.Zhu Zhu pets are a fad, the manufacturer Cepia does not deliver a quality product but rather an inferior one at high prices, no future here. Awesome toy., 2010-02-06 By Anthony Chiusano (Mansfield, MA United States) I bought this for my niece for Christmas. She loved it. She would not stop playing with it. Great gift for the kids. Cheap Plastic, 2010-01-26 By N. Adam (New Jersey, USA) Even though I would recommend this product because it’s so cute; I do have to say that I was a little shocked at the cheap plastic that makes the sleep hut (dome). The surf board looks and feels sturdy but the sleep hut (dome) I think is way too thin. You can easily bend the plastic. I could easily see my daughter pressing to hard to close the sleep hut and have it snap in her hands (potentially cutting her hand). I would think it would be thicker to stand up to a 5-year old. BTW – You may purchase this dome at Walmart for ten dollars. Waste of Money, 2009-12-27 By Chickie (Houston, TX) I bought 3 zhu zhus and the skateboard/uturn add on. The actual hamsters are really pretty great (see my review under Pipsqueak), but this add on was such a waste.
It’s pretty tough to get the hamster locked in place on the skateboard (i.e. he doesn’t get on it on his own like the car add on). Pressing on the hamster’s back while pushing up on the skateboard seems the best way to get it locked on there, but pushing on its back also activates the wheels- making keeping it in place quite a challenge. My 3 yr old cannot get the hamster locked on the skateboard. She initially resorted to getting in on halfway and pushing it around like a manual operation toy/car. Now she’s just given up all together. She still carries the accessory around and shows it to the hamster, but doesn’t even bother trying. The u-turn is also a waste. It’s so light that the hamster can’t get into it on its own. Every time we’ve gotten a hamster near it- it just pushes the darn uturn across the floor- somtimes making the honking horn sound. It’s even worse if you’ve gotten the hamster skateboard and try getting it through the u-turn. It is kind of neat to see the hamster tearing across the room on the board once you’ve gotten him in there, but not enough to make it worth the $. Great Gift for Child’s Christmas, 2009-12-23 By J. Welsh (Frederick, MD USA) This product was bought for my wife’s grandchild and she loved it! The problem with most toys is the number of parts that end up missing, etc. but this is not the case with this one. |
